    Alumnae=girls or women that has attended or gratuated from a particular school, college or university.
    Solemn= marked by the invocation of a religious sanction(=högtidlig)
    Dais=a raised platform
    Subside=to become quiet or less
    Fervent=very hot
    Rote=Middle English, from Anglo-French
    Monotone=a succession of syllables, words, or sentences in one unvaried key or pitch.
    Octogenarian=a person who is 80-89 years old.
    Haughtily=blatantly and disdainfully proud.
    Vicar=one serving as a substitute or agent.
    Dorm=the rooms where the students live.

    Fervent: Showing great feeling of intesity of spirit or enthusiasm.
    Banner: A sort of flag.
    Ovation: An enthusiastic public which makes loud applauses.
